Some seasons in life are easier than others. There are times of Spring and times of Winter. I have found it to be true that some seasons are quite challenging; sometimes even gut wrenching. I have also found it to be true that sowing in tears reaps abundant joy.
Laying down our lives, surrendering them to the Lord is such a privilege. When life is easy, laying our life down is easy. But when life is hard the sacrifice is even harder. But it is during these times that our true faith is challenged and further developed. It is the test to prove your faithfulness to whom you truly belong.
Today as I read the Word, Jesus became so real to me. As he walked the earth in human form, he too took on the challenge of wrestling through the hardest, most challenging, defining moment of his life. In the Garden of Gethsemane, a cup was set before him. The cup of life or death. The cup of obedience or rebellion. The cup of choice. The cup of decision. It was a cup he had never drank of before as he walked a perfectly obedient path that proved the miraculous ability of his Father. Overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death, he drew closer to the Father in prayer, and cried out "Abba, Father, everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will." The decision Jesus made as he sowed tears of blood, became the abundant joy that you and I now partake of.
Saying that you are laying down your life as a sacrifice and that you've been crucified with Christ are precious declarations that you have made before your Most Holy God. Faith will be tested by fire. It is what reveals that which has been refined. The message you conveyed before the challenge was ever made will be met with the greatest challenge ever..."Yet not my will, but what you will."
"Everything is possible for you" is a statement made from lips that had complete trust. I believe that it was in the garden as Jesus wrestled in prayer that his complete trust in the Father was revealed.
It is in the "garden", wrestling in prayer that our complete trust shall be revealed as well. Remind yourself, as did Jesus, that EVERYTHING is possible for God. Some cups are to be drank from and some are to be passed. We just need to completely trust God.
