A Whole Lot to Boast About

1 Cor 1:31 says, "Therefore, as it is written: "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord."
Ps 77:11-12 says, "I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds."

Taking time to look back over the past and see where God has moved on my behalf always brings encouragement to my spirit. Words He has spoken and songs that I have sung in times of trials to keep my spirit strong often have been the dose of encouragement that I have been in need of. Just thinking about God's goodness makes me cry. How he has saved me, how he has set me free, how he has caused me to grow, and how he has poured his love into my life.

In fact, I cannot tell you of a time that my life has ever felt better. Trials and hardships are still there, as well as sporadic spurts of fear and doubt. I guess the difference is that I am viewing them from a different perspective now. Instead of trying to out run the storms, I have learned to embrace them and to embrace the work God does in me through them.

Without storms and turbulent times in my life, I would not nearly have had the ability to grow the way that I have had, nor would I have any kind of testimony. With every storm I have something new to boast about as I see how the Lord goes about calming that storm. With every enemy that tries to rise up against me, I can see how God fights on my behalf. With every tear that falls, I will have an opportunity to see how God turns it into joy.

God has done so much for me and has answered so many prayers that I have lifted up before him. He has lavished his great love on me and has called me his own. I have a whole lot to boast about!
