The Place of Peace

We are so blessed at our church to have an incredibly anointed Worship Leader. She spends a great deal of time in God's presence seeking him for direction and for inspired songs for our corporate worship time on Sunday mornings.

A couple of weeks ago during our warm up session, I had to stop and "thank her" for bringing me into the place that I so needed to get into. It happened again last night at practice. She sought the Lord for just the right song - a new song. As we practiced the anointing fell and we were drawn into the presence of God. Again, it was exactly the place I needed to get into. In both these instances, I experienced the same thing. I experienced the peace of God like never before.

It doesn't matter how difficult things are, what is coming against you, how sick you feel, or what cares you have. These things can't stand in the presence of God. When you are standing before God, consumed in his presence, those things just melt away. It's the place where all worries and fears disappear and are replaced with peace. The "peace that surpasses all understanding" goes from being just words read to becoming an experience of worship; a reality that can be made known only by the touch of his awareness and his presence.

Psalm 91:1-2 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, he is my refuge, and my fortress, my God, in Him I will trust.
