Yesterday I wrote about inspirational quotes. Today I am going to write about another one. One that is quite profound; one that speaks and teaches us volumes.
"Jesus wept".
It doesn't get any great applaud at first. It seems so simple. Until one stops and thinks.
Jesus was so relational. Do we truly understand how relational and personal he is? As he entered the town where his friend Lazarus had been laid to rest I would think that every step taken brought the remembrance of a memory. There is something about death that always causes us to ponder life.
A town filled with people that were mourning; they were hurting deeply. Because of their relationship with Lazarus, they all had a common bond. Jesus was greeted with the sound of sadness. With great love and compassion, he joined right in.
Jesus has a way of joining in our pain. When we hurt, he feels our hurt. When we are troubled, he feels our trouble. Because of his great love for us, I don't think there is one emotion we experience that he doesn't understand or experience as well.
He understands anger. He understands joy. He understands sorrow. He understands rejection.
With Jesus as our model, and being we are made in the same image as he, then we also have the ability to connect with other peoples emotions.
True relationships connect with each others emotions. They feel each others pain. They laugh together and they cry together. Compassion moves the heart of God.
When Jesus wept, a miracle happened.
