I must start by apologizing for not writing many entries lately. Inspiration has not been flowing. It may have something to do with the fact that my daily reading has been bringing me through the books of Leviticus and Numbers. Some may find these two books saturated with revelation; hats off to you!
Today upon my reading, I stumbled upon one of my favorite characters, Miriam. Sometimes I have found myself just closing my eyes and trying to think of what it must have looked like when she bent over and took up her tambourine and began to lead others in worship. What strength her worship must have had. I too have even taken pieces of the song she wrote and have put them into songs. Just like Miriam, I love to worship my God.
Today I came across a new revelation imparted by God. It was quite humbling as I took a look into Miriam's mirror and saw a reflection of myself. Not as a worshipper, but as a woman who opened her mouth and spoke words that she shouldn't. She lost sight of the fear of God and spoke words of the flesh that literally cost her her flesh.
Can you imagine jealousy and pride invisibly rising up within that cause you to act and speak in a manner that causes God displeasure? All I can say is "been there done that". Miriam's skin bore the marks of her unwise choices as God inflicted her with leprosy.
When you hold Miriam and Mary Magdalene's mirrors side by side they begin to resemble each others. They were both great worshippers, not because they were great, but because they were humble enough to recognize their wrongs and grab hold of the truth of who God is. One used a tambourine; one used her perfume. How great their worship must have been as they offered it to God.
I think our worship becomes great to God when we clearly see in the mirror who we are, and by realizing that by His great mercy, our mirror image is being changed daily to reflect His.
Ex 15:2 "The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my victory. He is my God, and I will praise him; he is my father's God, and I will exalt him!"
